Bespoke solutions to specific architectural requirements.

Since the 1980s, iGuzzini has worked closely with architects and designers to respond with bespoke solutions to their specific architectural requirements.

Bespoke embraces the soul of a thought – the thought of the architect, first and foremost, and of all those who, by combining creativity and technology, transform matter into light, light into history.

iGuzzini wanted to shed light on bespoke solutions so that they can find new spaces, new places, new smiles, and new stories to tell.

All those simple and beautiful things that happen under light. A new life coming into the world, the ray of sunshine peeping through the window every day to say good morning, people looking into each other’s eyes, the moment when, in the evening under the suffused glow of a small lamp, we browse over the memories of the day.

Light strengthens our secrets and desires; light welcomes the challenge of building new stories. We never think about light on its own: it is always together with people producing new rituals and happy relationships. We use light to build new worlds; it follows us in our life-spaces and in our needs. Thanks to light, we can see where before there was only a wall of darkness in time and space.

The collection of light iGuzzini proposes reflects the transparency, shades and shapes of a majestic nature set between land and sea, a place that embraces many places: Portonovo, Sirolo, Numana and Conero.

Portonovo.

“In our memory, lanterns are a wireless light source that you can easily carry: you can set them down or hang them up, indoors and outdoors. Portonovo is a contemporary lantern that recalls the scents of a garden on a summer evening ” Marco Merendi & Diego Vencato

Portonovo is an extraordinary concept developed by two Italian designers – Marco Merendi and Diego Vencato – which establishes a desire to combine innovation with design at the heart of the new lamp collection.

Simple shapes and materials emphasise Portonovo’s minimal and welcoming style. An internal structure embraced by and standing on a transparent element in a simple, delicate, and effective interlocking encounter. Transparency is rich, precious, like glass but more resistant, thanks to the noble qualities of PPMA. Three colour versions evoke the magic of the sea around Portonovo: white like the foam of the waves, blue like the sky above and black like the dark rocks of the sea-bed.

Portonovo means you take light with you, where and how you wish. A wireless, portable lamp with a rechargeable battery simply using a USB cable. Simply touch the surface to switch the lamp on or off or press a little longer to vary the luminous flux from 100% to 5%. The battery can be replaced at the end of its lifespan without affecting the functionality of the device, to the advantage of durability and sustainability over time. Portonovo is a table lamp yet simply remove its stem and it is ready, extremely quickly and easily, to be carried hung anywhere.

Sirolo.

“For people like us who have ‘breathed’ the culture and history of making Murano blown glass for 500 years, the richness of acrylic materials was immediately apparent and expresses all its quality and crystalline beauty when illuminated. The lens effect multiplies reflections infinitely to add a senses of movement, preciousness and high aesthetic value.” Pio & Tito Toso

The Sirolo collection came into being from the material and creative tension to express the beauty, brightness and richness of the acrylic material and the crystal effect of its transparency. Each movement on the surface and modulation of thickness has been designed and studied to express all the beauty of this material. Precious accessories, with a dash of colour that personalizes any environment, elegant and refined design, reliable and efficient thanks to the technology employed.

The hanging version has a diffuser screen to ensure comfortable lighting. The tabletop versions (wired or wireless) have a rechargeable battery simply using a USB cable. Simply touch the surface to switch the lamp on or off or press a little longer to vary the luminous flux from 100% to 5%.

Sirolo is something precious, magic reflections that bounce, expand and enrich the surface, like a diamond. A jewel with an essential, yet refined shape. The light emission quality of PMMA – the noblest of polymers – gives this lamp truly exclusive impact. The finish of the optical compartment can be changed to match the main setting and ensure an added personality detail. As transparent as pure air, as grey as a passing cloud or amber like the energy of the sun. Sirolo is through and through light.

Conero.

“Over and above functional and technical considerations, in any design I seek to bear in mind all those feelings and emotive aspects that then translate into aesthetic motifs and emotions” Luigi Massoni

Delving perhaps into memory, perhaps into the awareness that certain objects, such as this one, challenge time through their absolute contemporaneity, unquestionably paying tribute to Luigi Massoni who designed it for iGuzzini in 1966, Conero takes its place in space to claim its role as design icon.

It has a typically 1970s all-embracing, well-defined and imposing shape. Conero has a very distinctive character highlighted by its equally distinctive chromatics. The design was not reviewed, precisely for this reason, to avoid betraying any of its formal features while embodying technology that ensures better performance in lighting terms. Transparent or colourful, two-tone and/or galvanized material for added character and personality in every setting. The inside of two-tone versions is always white, while the outside may also be white or else play with contrasting black and gold colours.

Luigi Massoni designed this hanging lamp in the 1960s, moulding a simple yet refined shape which has inspired other designers over time. An imposing impact collects a volume of light in an almost maternal form, where the curved element reflects geometric refinement as an expression of perfection. Conero comes forward today with three diameters to create a scale of volumes between light and space. Even the detail of the hanging mechanism, with two disjointed cables, emphasizes the elegance of this solution.

Numana.

“Numana is based in the idea of designing a collection that expresses the precious nature and sense of attention to detail found in certain craftsmanship artefacts. These processes also convey the message and value of the time dedicated to engraving, sewing and moulding the material.” Pio & Tito Toso

The delicacy of goldsmithery, the magic of lace and the masterful skill of achieving this effect using acrylic material: these are the things that Pio and Tito Toso managed to achieve with Guzzini in creating the Numana collection. The fretwork creates a warm and intimate atmosphere. The quality of the acrylic material used itself ensures a truly unique and unrepeatable play of light and back-light. A shape made up of details, present and future technology and a perfume that recalls something more ancient. Here and now.

Diversity as a parameter of beauty. Numana is the outcome of an innovation craftsmanship process: from the design of embroidery to digital realization using a 3D printer capable of weaving the acrylic yarn to create a unique piece. Using Additive Technology made it possible to reproduce high-precision details with a three-dimensional texture recalling the manual skills of embroidery. Each piece is unique and may reveal signs bearing witness to its diversity and, consequently, its beauty. Four finishes are available to highlight such refinement in a contemporary key.
