BRUNO SCRENCI –
Lighting Extraordinaire

What’s your go-restaurant and meal of choice?

Oh wow! There are so many to choose from, but I’d have to say I can’t go past Pendolino’s Burnt Butter Ravioli. I enjoy it every time I have it. I think it’s almost as good as Rino’s! {laughs}. Also, when I’m fortunate enough to dine in Rome, I love eating at Dilla – it’s one of Rome’s best kept secrets. Their food is incredible especially their Amatriciana Pasta which I always order because it is a real traditional Roman pasta recipe and always tastes incredible – especially with the right company and vino.

What do you do to relax and unwind?

For those that know me, they know I don’t handle stress well, so I make sure I get to the gym and pump up some 90’s hits. Also, I love watching my kids play soccer on a weekend. It’s awesome to see them out there trying their best – I just have to remain calm while on the sidelines. It’s easy to get a little too excited about the game!

If you could jump on a plane tomorrow, where would you go?

Anywhere in Italy, and probably Rome. It’s my heartland and I’m looking forward to getting back there soon. I really miss my connection to the people, food and land. I particularly miss the global iGuzzini team. Over the years, we have become very close and consider each other extended family so I miss that I haven’t seen them in a few years.

What’s a project that’s near and dear to your heart?

They’re all near and dear! I feel privileged to work with some many talented professionals and am genuinely proud of every project I can work on. A project that’s particularly special to me is the iGuzzini showroom at Jones Bay Wharf. It’s my home away from home. I can still remember when Rino and I were selling the iGuzzini products with a paper catalogue, then we grew to having a studio, and now we have a team of 11 people working there. It’s been It’s great to come into the studio and see my friends and colleagues who feel like family. Rino has done a great job of making us feel at home in the Studio, and we often enjoy home-cooked pasta while sitting around the table enjoying a Peroni or glass of Italian Red. It’s been an amazing journey watching the iGuzzini brand grow here in Australia to become a serious architectural brand for the lighting community to specify. I feel honoured to be part of it from day one until now.
