Along Sydney’s Darling Harbour, Pyrmont Foreshore is activated as a vibrant, inner-city hub of culture and entertainment. Central to the foreshore’s urban design was the resolution of an affordable, durable and high-quality lighting solution with a sleek, architectural appearance. Lighting Designer, Julien Freed, sought variable options for a single source street and area light and following extensive research, iGuzzini’s Twilight Canberra fittings were favoured from a field of nine competitive options.

Throughout, the foreshore’s existing, first-generation LED streetlights are replaced with iGuzzini Twilight Canberra luminaires, satisfying the lighting levels of the new Pedestrian Category classification, while preventing upward light spill. The fitting’s quality optics allow for a high level of visual comfort, offering safe and efficient street lighting for pedestrian use.

iGuzzini Twilight Canberra’s Opti Smart lenses offer multi-functional lens distribution options to suit the precinct’s varied landscape, boardwalk and bridge applications. The fitting’s refined appearance sits lightly in each setting, while low-energy LED light sources present strong environmental appeal. The Canberra diffuser screen creates a simple pole and shade composition – compact, elegant and fit for purpose.

Importantly, iGuzzini Twilight Canberra’s dimming capabilities enable the foreshore’s lighting to be controlled remotely. Each fitting draws on Casambi connectivity to provide an enhanced level of control. The Bluetooth-enabled system allow for individual addressing, time-scheduling, occupancy-based scenes, conservation-based time exposure and dynamic dimming, future-proofing the lighting solution to suit the precinct’s evolving uses over time.

Given the immense scale of Pyrmont Foreshore – comprising over 250 light fittings – the affordability of iGuzzini Twilight Canberra was critical to the project’s success. Throughout the pedestrian experience, the luminaires temper aesthetics, functionality and respect for the environment, delivering an enduring light solution befitting their much-loved harbour location.
